This book is short, affordable, fits in a purse, and might be Toronto's biggest contribution to a movement that is changing the USA faster than it is changing Canada. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Pamela -- The abolition movement has yet to achieve it's goal : Rinaldo Walcott's pamphlet explains what's behind the movement to defund the police, and how racism, policing, poverty, food insecurity, homelessness and what he calls "the criminal punishment system" originate in slavery and slaveowners' imperative to protect white property and control black bodies. In so doing, he argues persuasively that the abolition movement, initiated to end slavery, is an unfinished project. Other generations must "bring it to it's logical end--a reordering of planetary life." This pamphlet is required reading for everyone who cares about social justice.
